School Resource Officer
|Salary Range:||$24.53/hr - $25.75/hr, DoE (starting pay at $51,022)|

|Description:||As a School Resource Officer, the officer will perform law enforcement duties and make him/herself available to all activities of the school to offer assistance, guidance/counseling, provide presentations, and make referrals in all aspects of child related problems including drugs, gangs, and child abuse.|
|Duties:||Maintains ability to perform all duties of a Patrol Officer.|
Communicates and interacts with students and counsels them.
Promotes positive relationships with students and be a positive role model.
Performs campus security and provides a safe learning environment for students and faculty.
Meets parents, teachers, school officials and provides referrals, and assistance in all aspects of child related problems.
Provides presentations to school officials, students, teachers and parents and community groups as needed.
Provides gang intervention and training.
Performs dispute intervention.
Gathers intelligence and deters and reduces on-campus crime.
Enforces and investigates state and federal laws and the ordinances of the City which involve offenses committed by juvenile offenders.
|Qualifications:||Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License.|
Certified Peace Officers Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) required.
Complete Certified Juvenile Officer Training within one year of employment.
At least two (2) years experience as a Peace Officer is required. Experience in public education or working with juveniles may be considered in lieu of peace officer experience.
