Utility Maintenance Technician I/II

|Description:||Ensure effective ongoing maintenance and repair of the City’s water and wastewater treatment plants and systems.|
Responsible for effectively maintaining all related facilities, water/collection lines, and related grounds.
|Duties:||1. Conduct water quality tests in accordance with established standards and procedures.|
2. Help develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and repairs.
3. Maintain tools and equipment in safe and effective operating condition.
4. Assist in repairing water lines, making water taps, and repairing/modifying facilities and equipment.
5. Maintain related grounds; cut grass; trim vegetation; dispose of refuse; paint facilities and equipment.
|Qualifications:||Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow verbal and written directions.|
Sound working knowledge of water and wastewater system operations, equipment and machinery.
Ability to learn technical and scientific concepts and procedures related to work requirements.
Excellent mechanical skills, with ability to repair machinery and equipment and make judgments pertaining to repair needs.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Ability to effectively and safely operate and maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools and to understand all related operating features.
High School diploma or equivalent.
1 year experience maintaining water and wastewater facilities and systems.
Class "D" Water Certificate or Class “D” Wastewater Certificate, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
Valid Class C Texas driver license.
