Utility Sys Worker I/II

|Description:||May be assigned to water and/or wastewater operations and maintenance. In the conduct of duties, takes explicit direction from departmental supervisor; interacts most frequently with other water/wastewater department personnel; may interact with other City departments and public occasionally.|
|Duties:||Complete routine cleaning and maintenance activities at related utility facilities; cut grass; trim vegetation; clean grounds.|
Assist with repairing water/wastewater lines; maintain and repair meter boxes and water/wastewater facilities.
Accurately read and record meter readings in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
Connect/disconnect service to City residences/businesses, as directed.
Conduct water/wastewater quality tests and record results in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
Maintain tools and equipment in working order; report unsafe or malfunctioning tools and equipment to department supervisor.
Other Duties as assigned.
|Qualifications:||High School Grad or GED.|
Ability to acquire a permit CDL within six months.
Ability to acquire TCEQ Wastewater Collection I License or Water Distribution D License within 12 months.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Sound mechanical skills; with ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery and equipment.
Ability to operate light trucks, dump trucks, backhoe, tractor with shredder or auger, lawn tractors, trencher, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), weed eaters, trailers, shop tools, and various hand tools in accordance with safe and effective operating practices and City policies and procedures.
Ability to work effectively as a team member.
